Urban Decay Summer 2016 makeup collection: All you need for sexy, summer skin

I’m all about looking good without having to put in too much effort – yes, I’m lazy like that. I’d rather have an extra 15 minutes of sleeping/eating/watching GoT than spend it applying my makeup. Which is why the new Urban Decay summer collection is right up my alley. It’s got everything you need to look good literally in minutes. Because really, who wants to be spending hours doing their makeup when you could be outside having fun.

First up is the Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector. As the name suggests, it’s a hybrid of makeup and skincare that helps even out skin tone and blur minor imperfections. Which means, if your skin is fairly blemish-free, you might not even need to wear foundation over it. And if you do feel like you have a few spots here and there to cover up, don’t use foundation all over your face. Instead, spot correct with concealer. This will ensure your makeup still looks natural and effortless. It comes in six shades ranging from Light to Deep (I’m a Medium Dark), which means you will find something no matter what your skin tone is.

TheBeautyDesk.co-UrbanDecay-One&DoneHybridComplexionPerfectorIt’s the ultimate shortcut to good skin this summer – just swipe it on with your fingers and it feels like you’re wearing nothing at all. Since the oil-free formula comes with skincare ingredients like vitamins, moisturisers and peptides, it actually promises to make your skin look better over time. If you have fairly oily skin, you can use it as is over your sunscreen but those with dry skin types will want to use a moisturiser as well. I really like the convenient packaging too – makes it easy to put in your bag and the pump keeps things hygienic.

Once you’ve evened out your skin tone it’s time to make it glow. The collection introduces three new Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Highlighters: Sin, Fireball and Aura. My favourite is the champagne coloured Sin. As you can see Fireball is a peachy pink and Aura an iridescent pink, which don’t quite work for my skin tone but would look gorgeous on paler skin with cooler undertones.

Inspired by their bestselling eye shadows (with the same names), all three of the highlighters are finely milled, and have a soft almost creamy texture offers is buildable colour. They give you the most gorgeous sheen without looking sparkly, and can be used sheer or layered on. I would use Sin at the inner corners of my eyes, high planes of my face – anywhere the sun hits naturally as well as on my collar bones for that extra something. Just apply, blend, blend, blend and you’re on your way.

No summer collection would be complete without bronzers, and this one features two Beached Bronzers in Sunkissed and Bronzed. Sunkissed is suited to paler skin tones and those who have deeper skin tones can opt for Bronzed. There’s no danger of looking orange or muddy with these two shades. I love using bronzer, and these matte bronzers can be used wet or dry. Again, these are so finely milled, you can use them just as light dusting to add definition to your face or layer it to look like you spent a couple of days at the beach (without the damage).

There’s also a new 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Heartless and a 24/7 Waterline Pencil in Walk of Shame. Now I really like Walk of Shame for days when I haven’t had enough of sleep but still need to look like I have. The nude almost skin tone shade brightens the whites of your eyes by reducing the red. And it doesn’t budge once it sets. It’s also great to use if you want to make your eyes look bigger. The other pencil, Heartless is light frosted pink and will look great at the inner corner of the eyes or even has a highlighter just above your liner.

You should definitely check out the collection if you’re looking for a short cut to getting gorgeous this season.
