Here’s what you should get now that Mamonde has launched in Singapore

Korean beauty brand Mamonde landed in Singapore last month and brought with it makeup and skincare that would please K-beauty junkies and skincare noobs alike. From lip tints to cushions and masks, moisturisers and toners to suit every skin type and concern they’ve got it all – at prices that won’t break the bank. So what should you get?

Inspired by flowers, Mamonde products are all infused with botanical extracts gathered directly from the Mamonde Garden in Osan, South Korea. In a way this is the birthplace Mamonde products as this is where a team of botanists study the flowers and continue to innovate and develop new and existing products. Flowers like hibiscus, camellia, magnolia, honeysuckle and lotus, among others, are grown in a strictly controlled environment to ensure they don’t lose any of their unique benefits. Once in full bloom, the flowers are gently hand picked and frozen or dried before being formulated into skincare.  Based on these properties, here’s what I’d get.

Rose Water Toner
Rose water has been known for its calming, soothing, antioxidant and bacteria fighting properties since ancient times. The Mamonde Rose Water Toner is infused with almost 91 percent Bulgarian Damask Rose water that hydrates and soothes dry and sensitive skin, while balancing sebum production in oily skin. It is free from synthetic colour, animal ingredients, and chemical mineral oil. And the best part about this toner is that you can take it with you through the day: decant it into a spray bottle and spritz while one the go.

First Energy Essence
Used as the first step of your skincare routine, this softens and preps the skin for your serum and moisturiser. Additionally it provides antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, hydrates and smooths texture thanks to fermented honeysuckle vinegar and lactobacillus (a probiotic that hinders growth of harmful bacteria. Hello, clear skin!). With its watery consistency – which is somewhere in between that of SK-II’s Facial Treatment Essence and Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Essence – it works well for combination to oily skin types. But given Singapore’s humid weather, it should work well for dry skins as well.

If you’re looking to restore smooth texture, bounce and glow to your skin, you’re going to want to try this cream. It packs all the hydrating properties of the hibiscus along with ceramides to restore the skin’s natural barrier. Together they revitalise dehydrated skin cells to ensure your skin looks plump and is free of any dry patches or rough texture that usually accompanies dehydrated skin. Its light texture ensures it doesn’t leave you feeling sticky making it ideal for hot, humid climates. However, if you have mature skin, it’s best to try the Intense version of this product. The intense version is better suited to locking in moisturising ingredients, which is so important for dry skin types.

Lotus Micro Cleansing Oil tissue
Perfect for when you’ve spent a long day at work, after nights out or when travelling, these cleansing wipes effectively remove all traces of foundation, liquid lipstick, gel liner, cream shadow and stubborn mascara without having to rub too hard or tug at the delicate skin around the eyes. Hydrating and cleansing properties of the lotus ensure that your skin doesn’t feel dry and parched after you’ve cleansed. Just swipe, splash some water and you’re ready for bed. Though whenever you can, it’s best to do a double cleanse.
