Last year I was introduced to Singapore skincare brand Biconi. Created by mother-daughter duo Blan and Wendee Lee, I received the Biconi Radiant Skin Starter Set that comprised the Radiant Skin Cleanser Bar and Glow Facial Serum. Given that the main ingredients in both the products are virgin coconut oil and Biconi Noni Enzyme, I was excited to try them both.
I got started on the Biconi Glow Facial Serum almost as soon as I received it. With naturally dry skin, I love my oils, even in Singapore’s hot and humid weather. The oil serum is lightweight and a powerhouse of skincare benefits with ingredients like avocado, argan, coconut and macadamia oils along with Biconi Noni Enzyme that nourish the skin with antioxidants and vitamins.
When in Singapore I use the oil at night – mixed in with my moisturiser – as the last step in my skincare routine. This helps seal in all the moisture and prevents my skin from getting dry and dehydrated while I sleep in an air-conditioned room. You may use it as your first step – as a serum – but it worked best for me used last. I always mix my oils (except the Botani Olive Serum) with my moisturiser because your skin requires both oils and moisture to stay plump and youthful.
As promised the Biconi Glow Facial kept my skin hydrated, glowing and softened fine lines. But it had another pleasant effect on my skin – and this is why I really like it – it helped fade my diet-related acne marks. Its main ingredient, noni fruit is known for its antioxidant and anti-ageing benefits and some studies have shown that it helps reduce pigmentation. You can see from my before and after pictures, the vast improvement in the marks. While I am prone to congested pores, I didn’t experience any with this oil serum.
Another thing I like about the Biconi Glow Facial Serum is packaging and size. You get 10ml of this natural goodness in a dark brown bottle and allows you to directly dispense drops of oil on to your palm. Clean and efficient. The 10ml size makes it convenient to travel with and when you use only one or two drops every day, it goes a long way.
I carried this oil with me to Bombay where the weather is cool and much less humid than Singapore. In Bombay, I use it in my AM skincare routine and it works well under my sunscreen and foundation.
I also carried the Radiant Skin Cleanser Bar with me to Bombay – because it’s soap and I didn’t have to bother about it spilling! The cleansing bar comes in a little plastic mesh that not only allows you to carry it around but also hang it up to dry so you don’t lose any of its goodness to a soap dish.
Formulated with Biconi Noni Enzyme and organic camellia seed oil, virgin coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil and peony root extract it gently cleanses the skin without stripping it of natural moisture, leaving it feeling comfortable and soft. The ingredients are known for their hydrating, brightening properties as well as the ability to protect skin from environmental damage. I use this as my second cleanse as well as my morning cleanse and my skin looks and feels so healthy! This is saying something because Bombay is really polluted and dusty this time (Dec17-Jan18)
Now I’m going to state something I never thought I ever would. The Biconi Glow Facial Serum may just have knocked my favourite Botani Olive Serum to second place in my oils. Ease of use – I don’t have to mist my face before I apply the oil, and being able to apply it as the last layer, rather than at the start – have propelled Biconi Glow Serum to top of my list of all rounder oils.
